Set high into a hilltop with panoramic views of Napa Valley, San Francisco Bay and its own estate vineyards, it’s easy to see why Artesa is called the Jewel of Carneros.
Perhaps no other winery captures the multi-faceted beauty of this windswept, world-famous appellation as dramatically as the Artesa estate, where the fusion of architecture, artistry and winegrowing reaches soaring heights.
Owned by the Raventos family of Spain, whose winemaking history dates to the mid-sixteenth century, the winery takes its name from the Catalan word for “handcrafted.” Today, Artesa focuses on producing small, ultra-premium lots of the varietals for which the Carneros and the Napa Valley are best known – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

I would like to offer you a brief history of our historic property in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. My grandfather, Gaetano, purchased our 289-acre estate in 1932, which included one of the preeminent wineries of its time: the Grigbsy-Occidental Winery (est. 1878). At that time the wine industry was certainly not what it is today. Aside from growing and making homemade wine and selling grapes, my grandfather wrestled a living from the land farming corn, hay, walnuts, plums, a dairy, ranching cattle, a slaughterhouse and a retail market for our primary ranch products—meat and milk.
The Sterling Vineyards winemaking team believes that our wines should express true varietal character. We craft each wine with this in mind, choosing gentle techniques tailored to bring out the aromas and flavors that each grape variety develops in the terroir it likes best. The resulting wines have exceptional quality that shines anywhere, with intriguing complexity that brings out the best in a wide variety of cuisines.
Chateau Montelena's rich history began on a chilly fall morning when Alfred L. Tubbs spaded over and inspected the soil where he thought of planting estate vineyards. He had heard the Napa Valley was the best place to grow grapes in California. A deal was struck, and in January of 1882 the San Francisco entrepreneur owned 254 acres of rugged land just two miles north of Calistoga at the base of Mount Saint Helena. The soils are well drained, stony and loose - perfect for the vines he would plant.
Rising above the hills in the Napa Valley is Castello di Amorosa, which translates to the “castle of love” in Italian. Castello di Amorosa, an authentically-styled, 13th century Tuscan castle winery complete with high walls and five defensive towers and over 30 acres of estate vineyards. It was built over a 14-year period by Dario Sattui, a fourth generation winemaker and owner of V. Sattui Winery in St. Helena, California.
No winery or vineyard more thoroughly embodies the timeless appeal and seductive flavor of Napa Valley than Beringer Vineyards, Napa’s benchmark producer since the establishment of the vineyard in 1876.

Together, they craft Napa Valley wines that speak eloquently of the rich heritage of the Beringer Vineyard, while offering cutting-edge quality and contemporary elegance.
The winery was founded in 1879 by a Finnish Sea Captain Gustave Niebaum. Niebaum died in 1908 and the winery was shut down during Prohibition. Upon repeal of Prohibition, Niebaum's widow Suzanne Niebaum reopened Inglenook and brought in a viticulturist and an enologist to upgrade the winemaking system. Niebaum's great-nephew John Daniel Jr. took over operations in 1939 and by the 1940s Inglenook's wines once were again declared by many to be the best in the Valley.
More than 1,500 acres (610 ha) of the property were acquired by Francis Ford Coppola in 1975 with profits of his film, The Godfather. The brand name and the remaining 94 acres (38 ha), including the historic winery, were bought by Heublein, Inc., which began making lower quality wines produced elsewhere under the Inglenook label. Heublin was later bought by RJR Nabisco, then sold to Grand Metropolitan in 1987. Heublein sold the winery to the Canandaigua Wine Company (which later became Constellation Brands) in 1994.

Raymond Vineyards traces its family roots to the origins of winemaking in America's most fabled wine region. Embodying the spirit of the "Old Napa Valley", the Raymond family worked side-by-side to build their winery from the ground-up. After arriving in the Napa Valley in 1933, marrying Martha Jane Beringer in 1936, and enjoying more than thirty-five years working in every facet of Beringer Winery, in 1970 Roy Raymond Sr., together with his sons Walter and Roy Jr., decided that it was their time to put their family name on the deep roots they'd laid in the Napa Valley.

With roots in France and our hearts in California, we’ve always been inspired to make sparkling wines that reflect California character yet remain true to the practices of méthode traditionnelle. We combine centuries-old sparkling winemaking practices with high-quality classic California fruit, and the result is the perfect glass of sparkling wine. As a pioneer of sparkling wines in Carneros, we built an expertise in the region that now includes still wines from our prized vineyards.
Before our masters begin the winemaking process, each vintage starts with what Mother Nature gives us. Mumm Napa sources grapes from the cool southern Carneros region and along the Napa River headed north towards Yountville. Each of the areas lends a different characteristic to the wine. Carneros Chardonnay is lush and tropical, while mid valley Pinot Noir has bright berry concentration. Our long-term relationships with top growers ensure that excellent grapes are continually available.
